At Duane Bradshaw Architects we believe that a building is not a structure unto itself but is a part of the landscape surrounding it.  As such, it is our responsibility to produce designs that preserve the environment.  We understand that our clients are environmentally conscious and that they are looking for ways to decrease their impact on their surroundings, which is why we are proponents of green architecture.

Environmentally Responsible Design

In this day in age it would be irresponsible to produce designs without considering the environment and the likely impact of our designs on various locations.  When practicing green architecture we not only consider the functionality and needs of a space but how to design the space so that its impact on the environment is minimal.  We think about the positioning of the building, green building materials and green design elements.

Adapt and Reuse

One of the best and most creative ways to minimize your project's impact on the environment is to adapt and reuse an existing space. Adaptive reuse projects are often less disruptive to the environment because the basic structure is already there - the majority of the work is in renovating the existing structure, rather than creating a whole new project site.

Not only are adaptive reuse projects a good way to preserve the environment but previously existing spaces tend to have a character of their own. Think of turning a warehouse or an old dressmaker's shop into an office space. Adapting a space for use other than its original intent is a great way to make your space unique.
